We would like to welcome Lauren Manning to the Project Start Team. Lauren has joined our very successful FM team as a Trainee Recruitment Consultant to work alongside Chloe Villis and Nikki Head. Lauren brings with her in her youth, 2 years of direct sales experience and for her years is a young, confident, and ambitious individual, who we know is going to make an excellent Recruitment Consultant.
Lauren loves to escape to her family retreat in Cornwall and cannot wait to see friends especially once again this summer!
At Project Start Recruitment we wanted to discover more about Lauren, so our Digital Marketing Executive Jasmin interviewed our newest Trainee Recruitment Consultant…
Why did you choose the Recruitment industry as a career?
Recruitment has somewhat always been on my mind as I wanted to do it for a while now, but sadly I didn’t have the experience. I know the Recruitment Industry is a solid long-term career and the industry is a good one to get into.
Over a year ago, I was interviewed by many technical recruitment firms proceeding to the final stages but was told that I was too young for the industry. Then the director of Project Start Clare Golding rang me about a certain position here, So I gave it ago as the company values stood out to me and what I stand for. Project Start interviewed me so professionally and I’m so happy to be kicking off my Recruitment career with this firm.
What motivates you?
The motivation to become successful, being a success within my career is important to me.
What is the most exciting part of your job?
Getting candidates placed in their dream job role and them being happy with that placement.
What do you think sets Project Start apart from other Recruitment firms?
From past experiences that I have had when Project Start has previously got in touch with me, is that they keep in touch with their clients and candidates a lot. They build on their relationships for example with candidates, they continually keep in contact acknowledging the application and interview stages. It’s nice because no one is kept in the dark about the job or interview process.
What was your first paying job?
My first proper job was waitressing with my dad for weddings.
Who would you say inspires you?
I would say, my mum, my mum is the best!
What’s the best place you have travelled to?
Dubai, Dubai was amazing I want to go back so badly. Can you believe they deliver Nando’s to your house (before Deliveroo was a thing in the UK) and they would bring it to your table and set it up all fancy for you. Even the water is fancy out in Dubai, you won’t get your normal Evian water you will be drinking Fiji water.
What is your favourite animal?
It has got to be a giraffe; I think they are really cute, and it is the only animal I can semi-draw… apart from a worm as well.
What’s your favourite type of food?
That is a good question, I am a proper foodie, so my favourite type of food is Italian. I love spaghetti, I make a good bolognese with lots of flavours including peri peri salt!
Do you have any hidden talents or hobbies?
I wish I had a hidden talent; I really wish I could sing. When I was younger, I went to a drama school for which my parents paid a lot of money a month, so in my head, I assumed I was very talented thinking I could sing and dance professionally…
At the drama school, they would record you singing and play it back to you… I did not have a voice of an angel, so my 7-year-old heart broke that day.
What’s your biggest fear?
Needles, I just don’t like seeing it happen.
When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be a radio presenter, I was just fascinated by the fact I could play any song I wanted and now I want to be a Recruitment Consultant… so here I am.
How would your friends describe you?
It’s a mix really, but I would probably say that I am the mum of the group. The funny but also sensible one, especially on a night out my friends give me their phones so I can look after them!
Do you play any sports?
I am the most unathletic person you will ever meet; I did do football when I was younger, I was the goalkeeper and mainly saw it as a gossip session with my friends.
What three items would you take with you to a deserted island?
I would take my Oodie with me (that’s right an Oodie is a thing, google search it now), a pair of eyelashes and also my phone.
