The Engineering department is at the forefront of this mission, and they are seeking an experienced and passionate Engineering Manager to lead this team to new heights.

Position Overview:

The Engineering Manager will spearhead our client's Engineering department, ensuring the development, implementation, and maintenance of their Engineering Systems (to AS9100 and Sabre4). This role involves leading a talented team of development engineers, Manufacturing Engineers, and NPI Engineers, driving product and systems conformance to meet the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Management:
  • Directly manage and lead a team of Engineers
  • Develop and execute engineering strategies to achieve business objectives.
  • Oversee the introduction and development of new products in a profitable and timely manner, meeting project parameters.
  • Manage new and existing products on the shop floor, ensuring compliance with identified requirements.

Customer Liaison:

  • Collaborate with customers on engineering aspects of products, including managing Non-Conformance to drawing approval requests (Deviation Permit (DP), MVA, Concession, etc.).
  • Communicate effectively with customer MEs on engineering issues.

Technical Oversight:

  • Ensure CNC systems are suitable for production and able to produce parts Right First Time (RFT).
  • Generate and implement plans for out-of-hours running on specific CNC systems.
  • Maintain familiarity with CNC systems (3/4/5 axis Milling, Turning, and Grinding), EDM, and Wire Cut systems.

Strategic Planning:

  • Develop and implement engineering strategies that align with business goals and objectives.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost reductions.
  • Lead initiatives to drive innovation and enhance manufacturing capabilities.

General Duties:

  • Ensure all activities align with company policies and procedures, including standard operating, health and safety, and HR procedures.
  • Undertake tasks ethically, considering equality, diversity, effective resource use, and sustainability.
  • Lead by example, embodying the company mission and values with a proactive, ethical, and can-do approach.
  • Perform any other reasonable duties or specific projects as directed by management.
  • Work alternative shifts/hours as required.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

Technical Expertise:

  • Professional qualification in Engineering (BSc, BEng, MSc) in Aerospace, Mechanical, or related fields.
  • Strong understanding of Design & Manufacturing Engineering principles.
  • Proficient in drawing interpretation (GD&T, special processes, coating).

Experience and Knowledge:

  • Experience managing New Product/Process Introduction (NPI) industrialization and existing production process improvements.
  • Familiarity with LEAN processes and practices, and Agile Methodologies.
  • Solid understanding of industrial aerospace manufacturing systems and processes, including treatments and characteristics of various raw materials (Aluminium, Steel, Titanium, Exotics).
  • Knowledge of Solidworks/SolidCAM (CAD/CAM), Vericut, and robotics/lights-out machining methodologies.

Leadership and Interpersonal Skills:

  • Demonstrated leadership experience with evidence of significant improvements in cost/quality of engineering systems.
  • Ability to influence people, build trust, and establish effective working relationships within a global organization.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building abilities.
  • Hands-on approach and a 'get it done' attitude.

Quality and Project Management:

  • A working knowledge of quality system models such as ISO9001, and AS9100 within a Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Understanding of Project Management processes and systems.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems.
