Project Manager – Access Control

Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated Project Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our Security/Access Control department. This role involves managing all aspects of project delivery, from initial mobilization and pre-start meetings to final snagging and handover. You'll lead a dynamic team of supervisors, site-based operatives, and subcontractors, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Management: Oversee all phases of project jobs from start to finish, including mobilization, daily operations, snagging, and completion. Ensure O&M files are issued upon handover.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Develop and issue site-specific H&S RAMS, CPPs, work schedules, and logistics plans. Ensure all work complies with the Health and Safety at Work Act and industry standards.
- Client and Team Coordination: Attend client meetings weekly/bi-weekly, delegate actions to team members, and report critical issues to senior management. Coordinate with Building Control as required.
- Technical Support: Provide technical guidance to operatives and customers, with assistance from senior management and supervisors.
- Supervision and Reporting: Manage supervisors, engineers, and support staff, ensuring effective communication and project delivery. Conduct regular progress and H&S checks, and report findings.
- Subcontractor Management: Allocate specialist subcontractors, ensuring compliance with client requirements, including DBS checks and RAMS verification.
- Resource Allocation: Arrange delivery of materials and equipment, ensuring timely and cost-effective procurement. Collaborate with estimators to ensure quality and value for money.
- Financial Oversight: Monitor work-in-progress for invoicing, ensuring all variations are accurately recorded and billed. Submit quotations and manage the application process.
- Performance Monitoring: Track staff performance, attendance, and conduct appraisals. Ensure lessons learned from projects are documented and applied to future work.
Ideal Candidate:
We are looking for a highly organized and communicative individual with strong financial acumen and negotiation skills. You should have experience in project management within the security/access control industry, with a solid understanding of statutory requirements, health & safety regulations, and industry best practices. The ability to motivate a team and deliver exceptional customer care is essential.
Essential Qualifications/Skills:
- Proven experience in project management within the security/access control industry.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Financial awareness and negotiation skills.
- SMSTS qualification (or currently pursuing).
- IOSH Managing H&S qualification (or currently pursuing).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Projects (or currently developing).
- Full UK driving licence.
